Cheshire garden wedding, Hale
Sarah & Zak's nikah
I’d always wanted to be a Cheshire garden wedding photographer, so I was delighted when Sarah and Zak asked me to photograph the nikah to mark their Muslim wedding.
I’m a big fan of more intimate, personal celebrations – and it doesn’t get more personal than at the bride’s family home in Hale, Cheshire.
Sarah and Zak’s family and friends enjoyed a wonderful, emotional day in the spacious garden, complete with marquee, swings and even a trampoline for the kids – and I loved capturing people at their most natural in my documentary wedding photography style.
Everyone under one roof, all having a great time, and in a place that means so much to the bride – I can highly recommend a Cheshire garden wedding.
Build-up to a Cheshire garden wedding
There was no shortage of activity as Sarah and Zak’s family and friends awaited their arrival. The kids played hide-and-seek while the grown-ups co-ordinated Zak’s entrance without Sarah seeing him.
Islamic reading before the nikah
Zak and the male guests then retired to the lounge for the imam’s readings, while Sarah put the finishing touches to her preparations with the help of her closest family.
Cheshire garden wedding nikah
Time for Sarah’s entrance and the official nikah, after which Zak was – rather helpfully – fed rather too much cake…
Cheshire garden wedding celebration
After some group photos – in my own non-boring, non-traditional style – Sarah and Zak had plenty of time to mingle with guests while the kids had the run of the garden.
Cheshire garden wedding portraits
The beautiful garden allowed plenty of scope for portrait photos of Sarah and Zak, before the happy couple made their farewell – the most emotional moment of the day as it signifies the bride leaving the family home.

Garden weddings are such a personal way to mark your special day – they are so much more intimate and meaningful than some larger venues. So if you’re looking for a Cheshire garden wedding photographer – or a Manchester documentary wedding photographer – I’d love to hear from you.
